Lutru Mahadev Cave Temple is a fascinating and ancient temple located just 4 kilometers from Arki in Solan District, Himachal Pradesh. Built in 1621 by the king of Baghal, this temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. According to local legends, Lord Shiva appeared in the king’s dream and instructed him to construct the temple. The temple is situated on a hill, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. It features Shikhara style architecture and houses a Shivalingam, which represents Lord Shiva. The temple is especially lively during the Shivratri festival, attracting many visitors and devotees.
The temple is built inside a large cave, which is about 61 feet long and 31 feet wide. A unique feature of this cave is a circular hole above it, through which sunlight falls directly on the Shivling. This special arrangement adds to the temple's mystique and beauty. Visitors offer various items like flowers, fruits, milk, and sweets to the Shivling. Interestingly, a cigarette filled with cannabis is also offered as a part of the worship. It is believed that this ritual is crucial for pleasing Shiva and maintaining harmony in the area.
