Ghatotkach Mandir in Manali, Kullu region of Himachal Pradesh

Ghatotkach Mandir is an ancient temple located in Dhungri village, near Manali in Himachal Pradesh. This temple is dedicated to Ghatotkach, a legendary warrior from the Mahabharata epic. Ghatotkach was the son of Bhima, one of the Pandavas, and his demon wife Hadimba. The temple is unique because it is built around a large Deodar tree, where the weapons of war used by Ghatotkach are kept. The shrine is situated about 100 meters from the Hadimba Temple and holds significant cultural and historical importance for locals and visitors.

The temple's simple shrine is surrounded by offerings and symbols of respect, such as pairs of animal horns, possibly from goats that were sacrificed during certain festivals. Nearby, there are also model houses which might be offerings or prayers for building a home. The temple was renovated in 1997 after falling into disrepair. The Ghatotkach Mandir continues to be a place of worship and reverence, reflecting the rich mythological heritage of the region. Read more on Ghatotkach Mandir in Manali.
