The Uruswati Himalayan Folk Art Museum, also known as Uruswati, is a fascinating museum located in Naggar, Himachal Pradesh. It is situated within the Roerich Estate, just 100 meters uphill from the Nicolas K. Roerich Art Gallery. The museum was established in 1928 by Russian Professor Nicolas Roerich and his wife as a research institute focused on Tibetan and Indian medicine. The name “Uruswati” means "Light of the Morning Star," and was adopted in 1993. The museum showcases a rich collection of Russian and local folk art, including musical instruments, stone carvings, and colorful costumes from regions like Lahaul-Spiti, Kullu, Ladakh, and Tibet. Visitors can also admire genuine Roerich paintings and those of his Russian disciples.

In addition to its art collections, the museum features beautiful idols of Hindu gods and goddesses, Pahari paintings, and a photograph of Lord Buddha Bodhisattva. The exhibits also include woodcarvings, crystal pieces, and Agni Yoga quotations. Outside the museum, you can browse through Roerich’s books and purchase postcards. The Uruswati Himalayan Folk Art Museum is open from 10 AM to 6 PM, but it is closed on Mondays.
