The area was originally called "Company Ka Baag" and was used for entertainment and enjoyment by the British during the East India Company and British Raj periods. It was a venue for various cultural and social festivals, including Gymkhana, polo, cricket, and fancy dress shows. The Durand Football Tournament, started by Mortimer Durand in 1888, was also held in Annandale.
