The Jamdagni Rishi Temple, also known as Jamlu Devta Temple, is a revered ancient temple located in Malana village, Himachal Pradesh. It is situated about 52 kilometers from Kullu town and can be reached after a trek of approximately 23 kilometers from Jari Village. The temple is dedicated to Jamdagni Rishi, who was a great sage and the father of Parashurama. He is associated with several legends, including one where he released many gods from the Chanderkhani pass in Kullu.
Jamlu Devta, as he is also known, is considered a powerful deity in the region. Unlike other gods in Kullu, Jamlu Devta does not pay obeisance to Raghunath, nor does he participate in the Dussehra celebrations. There is a story that tells of how Jamlu Devta intimidated Emperor Akbar. The temple in Malana village is ancient and has strict rules, including a prohibition on touching it, with a fine imposed for violations. Malana is also known for the best-grown charas (weed), and the village has unique customs and traditions that are still followed to this day.
