Pin Valley National Park in Lahaul & Spiti Valley, Himachal Pradesh

Pin Valley National Park is a stunning natural reserve located in the Spiti Valley of Lahaul and Spiti district, Himachal Pradesh. Established in 1987, this park spans 675 square kilometers and is the highest cold desert national park in India. The park is named after the beautiful Pin River and serves as a link between the Lahul and Spiti Valleys. Visitors are drawn to its breathtaking rugged landscapes, which are home to the elusive snow leopard and other wildlife like the Siberian ibex, red fox, and Himalayan marmot. The park also boasts a rich variety of bird species, including the golden eagle and snow pigeon.

The terrain of Pin Valley National Park is challenging, so it's important for visitors to be physically prepared for the adventure. The park's high altitude, ranging from 3,300 to 6,632 meters, provides a unique environment for a diverse range of flora and fauna. The park's vegetation includes alpine pastures and dry alpine scrub forests, with many plants having medicinal properties. The best time to visit is during the summer months from July to October, as winter brings severe cold and heavy snowfall, making the park difficult to access. However, adventurous trekkers can still explore the area in late November and early December when animals move to lower altitudes.
