St. Crispin’s Church in Mashobra, Himachal Pradesh

St. Crispin’s Church in Mashobra, Himachal Pradesh, holds a significant place in history and serves as a reminder of selfless service and compassion. Established in 1901 by the Society of Saint John the Evangelist, an Anglican religious order, the church stands as a testament to the dedication of the SSJE fathers and CSMV sisters who provided medical aid to the village of Erandwane, which was plagued by disease and lacked humanitarian assistance. The church was built in the early Gothic architectural style by Comper, a British architect, and was completed in 1907. It was named after St. Crispin, a shoemaker and cobbler who became a Capuchin Brother and was known for his miraculous deeds. The church's foundation stone was laid on the eve of St. Mathias Day, and it was inaugurated on the eve of St. Crispin's Day.

Over the years, St. Crispin’s Church has been a beacon of hope and a place of refuge for many. It housed an orphanage for destitute boys and a shelter home for girls, providing them with care, education, and support. The church complex, which includes a residential child care facility, primary and secondary schools, a vocational training centre, and a personality development centre, continues to serve the community. The church celebrates various festivals, including Easter, Christmas, and All Saints' Day, bringing together the community in prayer and celebration. St. Crispin’s Church stands as a symbol of faith, resilience, and service, embodying the spirit of compassion and goodwill. Read more on St. Crispin’s Church in Mashobra, Himachal Pradesh.
