The Manikaran Shiva Temple, located in the Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh near the Parvati Valley, is a revered shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva. According to legend, while roaming the Parvati Valley, Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati visited Manikaran and decided to stay for a vacation. During their stay, Goddess Parvati lost her precious jewel, known as the Mani, in the waters of a stream. On Lord Shiva's command, Sheshnag, the Serpent God, hissed, causing boiling water to flow. This resulted in the emergence of precious stones for Goddess Parvati, and the temple was named Manikaran, signifying its association with precious gems. Today, it is a popular pilgrimage site and one of the best tourist places in Kullu & Manali.

The temple is also linked with Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism, who visited the area. The Guru Nanak Devji Gurudwara, also known as Manikaran Gurudwara, is located here and offers free food to visitors in its langar. Nearby, the Kulant Pith is considered one of the most sacred pilgrimage sites in India. The temple celebrates MahaShivratri, a festival dedicated to Lord Shiva, which is attended by local residents and devotees who come from far and wide to participate in the celebrations.
