Bhimakali Temple (Sarahan) in Kinnaur, Himachal Pradesh

Bhimakali Temple is located in Sarahan in the Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh and is a revered Hindu temple dedicated to Goddess Bhimakali, the presiding deity of the former rulers of the Bushahr State. This ancient temple, around 800 years old, is considered one of the 51 sacred Shakti Peethas. It holds significant religious importance and is a popular pilgrimage site near Chandigarh. The present Bhimakali Temple was constructed in 1927, while an old temple nearby has an intriguing tale. This older temple tilted slightly during the 1905 earthquake but remarkably straightened back during a subsequent tremor. It is believed that the temple's deep foundations connect to a disused tunnel leading to the village of Ranwin, a kilometer away, which was used by priests as a secret passage.
