Chehni Kothi, located near Jibhi in Himachal Pradesh, is a historic marvel known for its ancient towers. These towers, standing tall for over 1500 years, were once part of the fortified residence of King Raja Rana Dhadhia. The kothi is situated about 60 kilometers from Kullu, 7 kilometers from Banjar, and 66 kilometers from Mandi. To reach Chehni Kothi, one must embark on a scenic 57-kilometer road journey from Kullu followed by a three-kilometer uphill trek.
Despite facing partial damage from the 1905 earthquake, Chehni Kothi still stands at an impressive height of 60 feet. The locals have undertaken a restoration program to preserve this ancient structure. The Bhagwati temple, also known as the Chehni tower, is the tallest of its kind in the Western Himalayas. This nine-tiered tower, with four storeys made of stone, houses the top five tiers of the temple. Visitors can climb a wooden staircase near the entrance to access the upper levels and admire the idols of various gods placed at the top. The trek to Chehni Kothi offers not just a glimpse into history but also stunning views of the surrounding landscapes, making it a must-visit destination for history enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.
