Dera Baba Shri Chand Ji Maharaj Pubowal is a well-known and beautiful religious site in Himachal Pradesh, dedicated to Baba Shri Chand Ji, the founder of the Udasin Samparday and the elder son of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Located 17 kilometers from the district headquarters of Una in the village of Pubowal in Haroli tehsil, this sacred site was established in 1980 by Sant Santosh Dass Ji when he was just 9 years old. Thousands of devotees come here to seek the blessings of Baba Shri Chand Ji Maharaj. The dera spreads awareness about the teachings of Gurubani and Naam, continuing a tradition of spiritual guidance since 1980.
The historical significance of this place dates back to the time of Baba Shri Chand Ji. It is said that Baba Ji performed intense meditation here in 1635 and established a sacred fire, or "dhuna," which has been maintained by devotees ever since. A beautiful gurudwara, Tapo Sthan Baba Shri Chand Ji, now stands on the site where Baba Ji meditated. The place is adorned with a tahli tree, which has stood there for centuries. Daily prayers and rituals are conducted in the gurudwara, and a statue of Baba Ji, along with Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, is installed. The site is deeply respected and cherished by the local community, with a new building project underway to further enhance the gurudwara.
